2020 Journal of Materials Chemistry Lectureship winner: Giulia Grancini

We are delighted to announce that Professor Giulia Grancini has been selected as the winner of the Journal of Materials Chemistry Lectureship 2020. To celebrate, we have put together a collection of her publications in Royal Society of Chemistry journals:

Read the collection

The Journal of Materials Chemistry annual lectureship, established in 2010, honours early-career scientists who have made a significant contribution to the field of materials chemistry.

The Lectureship recipient receives expenses to cover travel and accommodation costs to attend and present at a leading international meeting. The recipient is also invited to contribute an article to one of the Journal of Materials Chemistry journals and to receive a complimentary back cover for the issue in which the article appears.

Giulia is Associate Professor of Chemistry at University of Pavia, Italy, leading the PVsquared2 team and Principal Investigator of the European Project “HYNANO” (ERC H2020 StG 2018), aiming at the development of novel hybrid perovskites materials and innovative functional interfaces for efficient, cheap and stable photovoltaics. Within this field, Giulia contributed to develop new functional interfaces with low dimensional perovskite, as a way to boost device stability.

She is the author of 92 peer-reviewed scientific papers (h-index=46, >15,000 citations). In 2019 she received the USERN prize in Physical Science, the Swiss Physical Society Award in 2018 for Young Researcher and the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Optics. She is currently USERN Ambassador for Italy and board member of the Young Academy of Europe. In 2019 she was listed among the highly cited scientists from Web-of-Science. In 2020 she was listed in the “100 experts against stereotypes project” which identified top-italian women scientists. She is also part of the “1MWIS campaign”, a global effort to promote the role of women in STEM disciplines. More can be found at https://pvsquared2.unipv.it

Materials journal family articles featured in the Chemistry World ‘Holy Grails’ series

Chemistry World has been exploring the ‘holy grails’ of chemistry, set out almost a quarter of a century ago in Accounts of Chemical Research, as part of a special issue.

For each ‘holy grail’, researchers working in the fields today have offered their insights into where these areas of research have gone since the publication of the original articles in 1995.

Ten relevant publications are highlighted as further reading for each ‘holy grail’, and we wanted to share with you the papers highlighted in four of the grails from the Materials family of journals. Also, don’t forget to click the titles below to link through to each Chemistry World ‘holy grail’ article and read more about the progress of each topic over the last 25 years.

TERMIS-AP 2020

On behalf of the organizing team, it is my pleasure and privilege to welcome all of you, colleagues and friends, to TERMIS-AP 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The year 2020 is a special year for us as it is the first time that Malaysia is hosting a TERMIS-AP conference. The theme of TERMIS-AP 2020 is “Revolutionizing Regenerative Research Strategies Towards Precision Medicine” which could not be more apt as the healthcare and biomedical sectors are rapidly moving towards precision medicine. In this regard, we hope that the TERMIS-AP 2020 will be the platform to forge more collaborations and networking among researchers, clinicians and scientists for the advancement of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TERM).

In this conference, participants will gain more insights into the basic, clinical and commercialization aspects of TERM. There will be plenty of opportunities for our delegates to present their research and to meet our panel of experts for potential collaborations. Apart from that, we very much encourage young researchers and trainees to participate whereby we have dedicated sessions for Student and Young Investigator Section (SYIS). We will be sharing more details and updates on the TERMIS-AP 2020 program.

Malaysia is a multicultural country and because of this, there will be plenty of attractions to see and enjoy. It is also easily accessible and one of the top value-for-money destinations in the world. Therefore, join us at TERMIS-AP 2020, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21st – 24th September 2020 to experience both science and culture in one of the most diverse countries in Asia.

Again, we would like to invite you to participate in TERMIS-AP 2020 and also experience the warm hospitality that Malaysia has to offer.

Hope to see you in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
