Congratulations to the winners of the Nanoscale Horizons, Nanoscale, Materials Horizons and Journal of Materials Chemistry A poster prizes at MXene 2022

The 2^nd International MXene Conference at Drexel University (MXene 2022) took place online and in person from 1–3 August 2022. Nanoscale Horizons, Nanoscale, Materials Horizons and Journal of Materials Chemistry A were delighted to support student poster prizes at this event and we would like to congratulate the four winners!

Nanoscale Horizons Poster Prize

Mikhail Shekhirev (Drexel University)
Poster Title: “Synthesis of large flakes of Ti₃C₂T_x MXene”

Mikhail Shekhirev is a Research Associate in the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Yury Gogotsi. Prior to joining Dr. Gogotsi’s research group in 2019, he obtained B.Sc. in Materials Science (2008) and M.S. in Chemistry (2010) from Moscow State University and Ph.D. in Chemistry (2017) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Having experience with various nanomaterials, such as graphene, graphene nanoribbons, quantum dots, his current research is focused on synthesis and characterization of 2D transition metal carbides and carbonitrides (MXenes).

Nanoscale Poster Prize

Kiandokht Pakravan (Auburn University)
Poster Title: “Effect of Surface Chemistry on Water Permeability and Ion Rejection Through the MXene Membranes”

I’m Kiandokht Pakravan, a first-year Ph.D. student of Materials Engineering at Auburn University. I got my B. Sc in Mechanical Engineering from Iran. At the end of my undergraduate study, I got more familiar with 2D materials and their fantastic behavior in different applications, then I decided to continue my education by working on one of the new 2D materials. I started my Ph.D. in 2021 and decided to address one of the global problems, so I started working on working on MXenes membranes and their different applications in separation, water desalination, and organic solvent nanofiltration.

Materials Horizons Poster Prize

Lingyi Bi (Drexel University)
Poster Title: “Scalable Production of MXene Dip-Coated Yarns and Cords”

Lingyi Bi is a PhD candidate at Drexel University, co-advised by Prof. Yury Gogotsi, director of A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute, and Prof. Geneviève Dion, director of Center for Functional Fabrics. She received her BS in Textile Engineering from Donghua University and MS in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship from Brown University. Before coming to Drexel, she worked in textile R&D in fashion and sportswear companies. Her PhD research focuses on developing functional fibers, yarns, and fabrics by incorporating a new family of two-dimensional materials, MXenes.

And finally, congratualtions to Mark Anayee (Drexel University) for winning the Journal of Materials Chemistry A Poster Prize.

Congratulations to the winners of the Nanoscale Horizons Presentation Award at the 20th Annual Meeting of Society of Nano Science and Technology

The 20^th Annual Meeting of the Society of Nano Science and Technology took place online from 20–22 May 2022. Nanoscale Horizons was delighted to support a Presentation Award at this event, intended for early career researchers, and we would like to congratulate the two winners who both received a glass plaque as part of the award!

17th International Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Symposium

The 17^th International Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Symposium (NanoDDS’19) will be held on the MIT campus September 22-24, 2019. We anticipate accommodating >400 participants from around the world. This symposium will particularly focus on translation medicine, and will be featuring speakers from both biotech industry and academia.

2019 Alberta Nanosymposium: congratulations to the prize winners

The 6th Annual Alberta NANO Reseach Symposium took place 2 – 3 May 2019. The theme this year was NaNoTeCH: celebrating the periodic table, and keynote talks were presented by Dr Shirley Tang, University of Waterloo, and Dr Robert Carpick, University of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to the two winners of the Poster Awards that were presented during the meeting!

Taylor Lynk was awarded the Chemical Science Poster Award.

Nidhika Bhoria was awarded the Nanoscale Horizons Poster Award.

Both winners received a Royal Society of Chemistry book voucher as well as an invitation to join the Royal Society of Chemistry as Members.

Nano Korea 2019

Nanoscale Horizons, Nanoscale and Nanoscale Advances are delighted to support the Nano Korea 2019 symposium which takes place from 2-5 July 2019!

Meet the Editor: Professor Dong Ha Kim, Associate Editor of Nanoscale and Nanoscale Advances, will be attending Nano Korea 2019.

At Korea’s largest nanoscience and nanotechnology conference, internationally known experts, including industry leaders, will join the four day conference to discuss the most critical technological advances and innovations in the field. Congratulations to the prize winners at ESRW 2018

On 13-14 June 2018 the 8^th Early Stage Researchers Workshop on Nanoscience was held at IMDEA nanociencia.

The workshop is organized by and for young researchers with the purpose of bringing together early carreer scientists from different disciplines to present their research work in the field of Nanoscience to the public for the first time.

More than 80 young researchers attended the meeting and it was a great success, promoting discussions and creating lots of new academic links between attendees. IEEE-NANO is the flagship IEEE Nanotechnology conference, which has been a successful annual conference since 2001. The conference scope spans both nanoscience and nanotechnology, including:

Developing new nanomaterials or manipulating matter at nanometre length scale
Studying the fundamental physical, chemical or biological properties of these nanomaterials and nanostructures
Manipulating and optimizing nanomaterials and nanostructures to create new nanosensors, nanoactuators and nanoelectronic/nanophotonic devices.
