The 2^nd International MXene Conference at Drexel University (MXene 2022) took place online and in person from 1–3 August 2022. Nanoscale Horizons, Nanoscale, Materials Horizons and Journal of Materials Chemistry A were delighted to support student poster prizes at this event and we would like to congratulate the four winners!

Nanoscale Horizons Poster Prize Mikhail Shekhirev (Drexel University) Poster Title: “Synthesis of large flakes of Ti3C2Tx MXene” Mikhail Shekhirev is a Research Associate in the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Yury Gogotsi. Prior to joining Dr. Gogotsi’s research group in 2019, he obtained B.Sc. in Materials Science (2008) and M.S. in Chemistry (2010) from Moscow State University and Ph.D. in Chemistry (2017) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Having experience with various nanomaterials, such as graphene, graphene nanoribbons, quantum dots, his current research is focused on synthesis and characterization of 2D transition metal carbides and carbonitrides (MXenes).

Nanoscale Poster Prize Kiandokht Pakravan (Auburn University) Poster Title: “Effect of Surface Chemistry on Water Permeability and Ion Rejection Through the MXene Membranes” I’m Kiandokht Pakravan, a first-year Ph.D. student of Materials Engineering at Auburn University. I got my B. Sc in Mechanical Engineering from Iran. At the end of my undergraduate study, I got more familiar with 2D materials and their fantastic behavior in different applications, then I decided to continue my education by working on one of the new 2D materials. I started my Ph.D. in 2021 and decided to address one of the global problems, so I started working on working on MXenes membranes and their different applications in separation, water desalination, and organic solvent nanofiltration.

Materials Horizons Poster Prize Lingyi Bi (Drexel University) Poster Title: “Scalable Production of MXene Dip-Coated Yarns and Cords” Lingyi Bi is a PhD candidate at Drexel University, co-advised by Prof. Yury Gogotsi, director of A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute, and Prof. Geneviève Dion, director of Center for Functional Fabrics. She received her BS in Textile Engineering from Donghua University and MS in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship from Brown University. Before coming to Drexel, she worked in textile R&D in fashion and sportswear companies. Her PhD research focuses on developing functional fibers, yarns, and fabrics by incorporating a new family of two-dimensional materials, MXenes.

And finally, congratualtions to Mark Anayee (Drexel University) for winning the Journal of Materials Chemistry A Poster Prize.

The 20^th Annual Meeting of the Society of Nano Science and Technology took place online from 20–22 May 2022. Nanoscale Horizons was delighted to support a Presentation Award at this event, intended for early career researchers, and we would like to congratulate the two winners who both received a glass plaque as part of the award!

Professor Yoichi Kobayashi (Ritsumeikan University) Presentation Title: “Quasi-reversible photoelimination of organic ligands of semiconductor nanocrystals”	Professor Yuya Tanaka (Tokyo Institute of Technology) Presentation Title: “Development of redox-responsive organometallic molecular switches”

The 6th Annual Alberta NANO Reseach Symposium took place 2 – 3 May 2019. The theme this year was NaNoTeCH: celebrating the periodic table, and keynote talks were presented by Dr Shirley Tang, University of Waterloo, and Dr Robert Carpick, University of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to the two winners of the Poster Awards that were presented during the meeting!

Taylor Lynk was awarded the Chemical Science Poster Award.

Nidhika Bhoria was awarded the Nanoscale Horizons Poster Award.

On 13-14 June 2018 the 8^th Early Stage Researchers Workshop on Nanoscience was held at IMDEA nanociencia.

The workshop is organized by and for young researchers with the purpose of bringing together early carreer scientists from different disciplines to present their research work in the field of Nanoscience to the public for the first time.

More than 80 young researchers attended the meeting and it was a great success, promoting discussions and creating lots of new academic links between attendees. Nanoscale Horizons and Nanoscale sponsored several prizes at the meeting for both oral presentations and poster presentations.

We are delighted to congratulate Leyre De Juan and María Salvador Fernández for their excellent posters, and both Fernando Jiménez and Julia Villalva for their fantastic talks!

Congratulations to the Nanoscale Horizons Award winners from the PhoBiA Annual Nanophotonics International Conference (PANIC 2017)! This interdisciplinary conference aimed to gather young scientists working on the borders between chemistry, physics, and biology in order to help them to share their knowledge on photonoics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, materials science, and organic electronics.

The best oral presentation was awarded to Maciej Chrzanowski, for his talk on Synthesis of double shell type-II semiconductor nanocrystals for lasing applications.

The best poster presentation was awarded to Katarzyna Brach, for her poster describing DNA liquid crystals doped with AuAg nanoclusters.

Both winners will receive a free personal online subscription to Nanoscale for one year, as well as a signed certificate from the Executive Editor of Nanoscale Horizons.

Nanoscale Horizons is thrilled to congratulate two prize winners from PANIC 2016: PhoBiA Annual Nanophotonics International Conference, April, 18-20 2016 Wroclaw, Poland.

Karolina Smolarek, from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, received the Best Poster Prize for her poster on Enhanced luminescence of organic light-emitting diodes with metallic nanoparticles.

Lukasz Janasz, from Lodz University of Technology, received the Best Oral Presentation for his presentation on Ultrathin poly(3-hexylthiophene) films with controllable, nanofibrill morphology for application in organic, field-effect transistors.

Many congratulations to Chuanbo Gao and Mengyu Yan for winning the Nanoscale and Nanoscale Horizons poster prizes at the 10th Sino-US Symposium on Nanoscale Science and Technology.

Chuanbo, from the Xi’An Jiaotong University, and Mengyu, from Wuhan University, won prizes for their posters entitled “Etching-free epitaxial growth of gold on silver nanostructures for high chemical stability and plasmonic activity” and “Vanadium oxide/graphene nanocomposite for advanced lithium battery”, respectively.

The 10th Sino-US Symposium on Nanoscale Science and Technology took place from 26th to 28th June 2015 at Wuhan University of Technology, China. The conference is organised by the Wuhan University of Technology, University of California, Los Angeles, and Wuhan University, and aims to provide a platform for scholars, experts, research institutes, and companies to share the latest research progress in nanoscience and technology research. This year’s event was the largest symposium ever held in the history of the Forum, with over 1,000 participants. Further details are available on the conference website.
