4th International Conference on Organic Electronics – 2018

Materials Horizons is pleased to be sponsoring the 14th International Conference on Organic Electronics – 2018 (ICOE-2018) to be held on June 18 – 22, 2018 in Bordeaux, France.

ICOE is an annual serie of conferences dedicated to the state-of-the-art research in organic electronics. The ICOE-2018, organized by Professor Guillaume Wantz, Associate Editor of Materials Chemistry Frontiers, and Professor Natalie Stingelin, Associate Editor Journal of Materials Chemistry C , will bring together the most excellent researchers from academy as well as industry to discuss fundamental aspects of organic semiconductors, demonstrate their vision of the road-map of organic electronics and to exchange ideas on future materials, technologies, and applications.

Some excellent speakers are confirmed, including members of the Materials Horizons Editorial Board: Editor-in-Chief Professor Seth Marder, Scientific Editor Thuc-Quyen Nguyen, and Editorial Board member Professor Kazuo Takimiya.

Conference Promotion – Solid State Chemistry Group Christmas Meeting 2017

Congratulations to the poster prize winners at MC13

Congratulations to the winners of the Materials Horizons poster prize at the 13th International Conference on Materials Chemistry (MC13). The poster prize was awarded to Abbas, Sara; Buchaca-Domingo, Ester; El-Tall, Omar; Kim, Taesoo; Caraveo, Alfonso; Stingelin, Natalie; and Amassian Aram from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia for their poster entitled Solution-Processed Smart Window Platform Based on Plasmonic Electrochromic and Photonic Coatings.

 

Other prizes were awarded from  Journal of Materials Chemistry B , Molecular Systems Design & Engineering, Soft MatterBiomaterials, and more!

Conference Promotion – GRAPCHINA 2017

Materials Horizons and Nanoscale Horizons are proud to be partnering with GRAPCHINA 2017, which takes place on 24 – 26 September 2017 at Nanjing International Exhibition Centre, China.

 

This International Graphene Global Innovation Conference has become a significant commercial and academic event that gathers approximately 2000 representatives for all stakeholders involved in graphene technologies, bringing top level speakers and delegates from the industries, NGOs and academia together with senior policy makers from the EU’s flagship program and national government.

Key speakers include:

  • Sir Andre Geim, Nobel Prize winner
  • Professor Yong Gan, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
  • Professor Andrea C. Ferrari, Founding Director of the Cambridge Graphene Centre (and Associate Editor for Nanoscale)

1st European Conference on Chemistry of Two-Dimensional Materials (Chem2DMat)

Materials Horizons will be supporting the 1st European Conference on Chemistry of Two-Dimensional Materials (Chem2DMat), which will take place in Strasbourg on 22-26 August 2017. This conference aims at providing a forum to the rapidly growing community of scientists mastering the chemical approaches to 2D materials in order to fabricate systems and devices exhibiting tunable performance.

 

The conference will cover all areas related to 2D materials’ chemistry spanning their synthesis as well as their functionalization, using covalent and non-covalent approaches, for composites, foams and coatings, membranes, (bio-)sensing, (electro- and photo-)catalysis, energy conversion, harvesting and storage, electronics, nanomedicine, biomaterials, with sessions on the following themes:

  • Synthesis, processing and multiscale characterization
  • Bottom-up growth
  • Covalent and non-covalent functionalization
  • Synthetic two-dimensional materials
  • Design of 3D functional materials from layered systems

AsiaNANO poster prize winners

Congratulations to the poster prize winners at the Asian Conferene on Nanoscience & Nanotechnology which took place from the 10th – 13th October in Sapporo, Japan. The conference was attended by 330 participants from over 10 different countries. There were 79 oral (31 invited) and 182 poster presentations. Materials Horizons and Nanoscale Horizons provided sponsorship in the form of poster prizes which were handed to the following winners:

Chee Leng Lay (University of Singapore) for her poster titled: Transformative Two-Dimensional Array Configurations by Geometrical Shape-shifting Protein Microstructures, Ryo Iida (Hokkaido University): Thermoresponsive assembly of gold nanospheres and nanorods, Satoshi Nakamura (Hokkaido University): Immobilization of AuNRs by assistance of a DNA brush and Zhepeng Zhang (Peking University): Direct Chemical Vapor Deposition Growth of MoS2/h-BN van der Waals Heterostructures on Au Foils.

The conference included recent hot topics on chemical and physical aspects of nanostructures as well as their fabrication and characterization technologies with its main focus on revolutionary approaches and results developed newly in nanochemistry and nanomaterials for the last two years.
