We are proud to announce the launch of two new journals from the Royal Society of Chemistry! RSC Applied Polymers and RSC Applied Interfaces are interdisciplinary and gold open access, expanding the Royal Society of Chemistry’s existing portfolio and providing a welcoming home for application-focused polymer and interface research.
Both journals will be open for submissions in Spring 2023, and all article processing charges (APCs) for both journals will be waived through mid-2025, letting you freely publish your work so it can be available to all.

RSC Applied Polymers
RSC Applied Polymers is focused on the application of polymers, both natural and synthetic, including both experimental and computational studies. This new applied research-focused journal will supplement the Royal Society of Chemistry’s existing journal, Polymer Chemistry, providing an impactful home for work focused on polymer applications.
The journal’s founding Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Emily Pentzer, Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University in the USA, whose extensive experience with applied polymeric material research will help guide RSC Applied Polymers.
RSC Applied Interfaces
RSC Applied Interfaces explores interfacial and surface research with an applied focus. Complementing the Royal Society of Chemistry’s existing materials-focused journals, RSC Applied Interfaces aims to be an impactful, dedicated home for interdisciplinary research in applied interfacial and surface science.
The inaugural Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Federico Rosei, professor and director at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications in Varennes (QC), Canada. To guide the beginning of RSC Applied Interfaces, he will draw on his research background in nanostructured materials for engineering and materials science applications.
