We are pleased to announce the Call for nominations for the upcoming Young Analytical Scientists (YAS) themed issue of JAAS.

YAS is a special issue devoted to publishing the work of outstanding young analytical scientists within five years of their first academic or industrial appointment, working in the area of atomic spectrometry and highlighting potentially high-impact research.

Call for nominations are open until January 7th, 2013. Successful nominations will hear from the Guest Editor and Editorial Office the second week of January.

Themed issue 5th Asia-Pacific Winter Conference (2012 APWC)

Will you be joining us in Jeju later this month?

If so, on behalf of the organisers and JAAS Editorial Board, we would like to invite you to submit an article for a themed issue in JAAS, on your work presented at the conference.

The submission deadline for the issue will be 1^st October 2012, and the issue will be published online and in print in spring 2013. All authors will receive a PDF of their article and a print copy of this issue when it is published.

We welcome the submission of communications, full papers and technical notes for consideration in the issue, and all articles will be subject to the usual high standards of the journal through peer-review. If you are interested in writing a review article for the issue, then please do not hesitate to contact me by email. We will also have an Exhibition stand at the conference, so please do drop by and see me!

Articles should be submitted through the JAAS website, and we kindly ask all authors to indicate in their covering letter that their article is for consideration in the APWC 2012 issue. Further details about what we have to look forward to can be found on the conference website.

2012 Asia-Pacific Winter Conference (2012 APWC), Jeju Island, South Korea
August 26th-29th 2012

The 2012 APWC will feature developments in spectrochemical analysis by inductively coupled plasma (ICP), AAS, GFAAS, various plasma sources, laser sources (LIBS, laser ablation) and chromatography. More than 200 scientists are expected with over 300 papers on modern plasma spectrochemistry . A three-day exhibition will feature new plasma instrumentation and many supporting products.

Themed issue on Archaeometry now online

The latest issue of JAAS features our themed issue on Archaeometry, Guest Edited by Patrick Degryse of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Leuven, Belgium.

The front cover is an article from this issue by Changsui Wang of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China and co-workers. They performed analyses on an artifact of brass apparently predating the Bronze Age, which was unearthed at Jiangzhai site (China, Shaanxi Province, 4700-4000 BC) in order to infer the probable metallurgical process for the production of this early brass.

Atomic spectrometry in Central and Eastern Europe: submissions open

We will be publishing a web themed issue comprising work from Central and Eastern Europe in the field of analytical atomic spectrometry. The aim is to highlight, to the wider international community, the achievements in analytical atomic and mass spectrometry made by the researches from this area.

The Guest Editors for this collection are Professor Jiří Dědina of Charles University in Prague, and Professor Pawel Pohl of Wroclaw University of Technology.

Manuscripts are welcome until the submission deadline on 1 June 2012.

2012 Winter Conference themed issue

We are delighted to say that JAAS will be publishing a themed issue from the 2012 Winter Conference.

JAAS continues to be a strong supporter of the Winter Conference series, held in Asia, Europe or, the US, and maintains its position as the leading journal by impact for the publication of primary research in the field of elemental and isotope analysis.

The submission deadline for the issue is 10th February 2012, and articles can be submitted through the journal website. Please indicate in your covering letter that your article is to be considered for this issue. The issue will be published online and in print in summer 2012.

We welcome the submission of communications, full papers and technical notes for consideration in the issue, and all articles will be subject to peer-review. Themed issue on Archaeometry

We are delighted to announce that JAAS will be publishing a themed issue on ‘Isotope ratios in archeaometry’ in spring 2012. This issue will be Guest Edited by Patrick Degryse from the University of Leuven, Belgium.

The submission deadline for this issue is 12th December 2011.

Please submit your article through the journal submission website, and indicate in your covering letter that your article is intended for the Archaeometry 2012 issue. Please note that all articles will be peer-reviewed, and to be suitable for publication, must meet the usual quality and significance standards of the journal.

Articles will be published as Advance Articles online as soon as they are ready, and the print issue will be published in spring 2012. For further information about the journal, please visit our homepage.

The early registration deadline for the Third International Symposium on Metallomics conference is April 30.

Metallomics is to be held in Munster, Germany June 15-18, 2011 and sister journal Metallomics has announced a special issue themed around the conference. The submission deadline for the special issue July 15, 2011. More information can be accessed online at: http://www.metallomics2011.org.
