(Na Na) The first Atomic Spectroscopy Committee of China was elected at the recent 2010 APWC held in ChengDu, China. More than 50 scientists from domestic and international participated in this event. Secretary general Changkuan Liu announced the establishment of Atomic Spectroscopy Committee of China. Prof. Benli Huang and Prof. Yukui Zhang, Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), enthusiastically delivered the congratulation speeches.
The committee includes 34 scientists: Prof. Benli Huang (Academician of CAS, Xiamen University), Prof. Yukui Zhang (Academician of CAS, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics), and Prof. Zhifang Chai (Academician of CAS, Institute of High Energy Physics) as the advisory members; Chairman, Prof. Guibin Jiang (Academician of CAS, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences); Vice Chairmen, Prof. Bin Hu (Wuhan University), Prof. Xiandeng Hou (Sichuan University), Prof. Jianhua Wang (Northeastern University), Prof. Qiuquan Wang (Xiamen University), Prof. Xiuping Yan (Nankai University), Prof. Pengyuan Yang (Fudan University), and Prof. Xinrong Zhang (Tsinghua University).
During the conference, Prof. Guibin Jiang presented a report “Analytical Atomic Spectrometry in China – Past, Present and Future”. Prof. Zhifang Chai, Prof. Pengyuan Yang, Prof. Xiuping Yan and Prof. Xiandeng Hou were invited to give 20 min lectures on selected topics. These reports fostered active discussion, and they believed the future of atomic spectrometry in China will be promising.
