Nobel Laureate Professor John Fenn Has Passed Away at 93

Professor John Fenn passed away on Friday December 10 at the age of 93. Professor Fenn received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2002 for his work in electrospray ionization, and he remained a mainstay at scientific conferences and an active researcher well into his 90’s.  Professor Fenn was also an active mentor and friend to younger scientists and went out of his way to encourage students in their scientific pursuits-particularly in teaching pursuits.  You can view Professor Fenn’s Nobel Address at http://nobelprize.org/mediaplayer/index.php?id=904 and you might also like this interview with Professor Fenn http://nobelprize.org/mediaplayer/index.php?id=517&view=1 .  He was a great scientist and ambassador, he will be missed.
