Themed Collection on NutriEpigenetics

We are very pleased to announce a new Food & Function themed collection focussing on NutriEpigenetics, Guest Edited by Associate Editor Laura Bravo-Clemente (Institute of Food Science, Technology and Nutrition, Spain) and Alberto Davalos (IMDEA Foood Institute, Spain).

It is through the epigenome (a layer of regulatory information superimposed on the genome) that environmental factors like diet, can change the activity of genes without alteration of the genetic code. There is intense and growing interest on epigenetic modifiers to prevent or treat a plethora of disorders and to search for biomarkers in response to nutritional intervention studies. Diet has a significant impact on the epigenome in both, health and disease states, and this special thematic issue seeks to capture the latest research on the influence of foods (and food components) or food processing on the epigenome and their consequences for health status.

We are looking for primary research and review content on topics such as food processing and epigenome , food bioactive compounds and epigenome (i.e. DNA methylation, miRNAs, histone modification, and others), diet and epigenome modifications: evidences from dietary intervention studies and epigenetic biomarkers in nutritional studies (other lifestyle accepted, i.e. exercise activity).

Accepted articles will be collated in an online collection as soon as they are accepted and in the themed collection as a whole and will be promoted as a complete collection in Winter 2020.

The submission deadline for this collection is August 16th 2020.
