Poster prize winner at EuCOMC 2011 in Toulouse

I am delighted to announce that Christian Färber from Germany was the winner of the Dalton Transactions Poster Prize at the recent EuCOMC meeting in beautiful Toulouse. Christian is based at the University of Kassel in Germany in the group of Ulrich Siemeling.

The title of Christian’s winning poster was: Zwitterionic Nitron as an Instant N-Heterocyclic Carbene

EuCOMC XIX and CCDG

Hot Article: Metallocene alkynes catalysing dehydrogenation of boranes

In this HOT article, Rosenthal and co-workers present studies on the application of group 4 metal complexes, in particular metallocene alkyne complexes and metal amides, for the catalytic dehydrogenation of dimethylamine borane. In this context, the catalytic evolution of hydrogen from stable hydrogen storage materials has become increasingly important.

Dalton Transactions poster prize winner at 2010 BC Inorganic Chemistry Discussion Weekend

Julien Dugal-Tessier, who works in Derek Gates’ group at the University of British Columbia, was awarded a Dalton Transactions poster prize at the BC Inorganic Chemistry Discussion Weekend last summer.

The meeting brought together inorganic chemists from five universities in Canada’s two most western provinces. Plenary speakers at the meeting included Charles Walsby and Byron Gates from Simon Fraser University and Stephen McNeil from UBC Okanagan.

Dalton Prize winner at the Society of Silicon Chemistry Japan Meeting

Mitsuo Kira presents Dalton Prize to Yuki Morita

Many congratulations to Mr Yuki Morita of Shizuoka University in Japan who was the Dalton Transactions poster prize winner at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Silicon Chemistry Japan last month.

The meeting was organised by Dr Kotaro Osakada of Tokyo Institute of Technology and was held from the 19th to 20th November in Yugawara, Japan. Yuki’s winning poster is entitled ‘Fabrication of oligosilane nanocrystals including aromatic compounds and observation of their exciplex-like emission‘.

Just this year Dalton Transactions featured Silicon Chemistry in our themed issue entitled ‘New Horizon of Organosilicon Chemistry’. Congratulations to Koji Yamamoto from the Osaka University in Japan– recent winner of the Dalton Transactions Poster Prize at the 60th JSCC Symposium and the 60th Anniversary Conference on Coordination Chemistry which both took place as parallel sessions in Osaka from the 27th-30th September!
