Linear Dichroism and Circular Dichroism – A Textbook on Polarized-Light Spectroscopy

This book introduces optical activity and anisotropy as techniques for studying the structure of molecules and their interactions in solution.   Written by pioneers in the field, Professor Alison Rodger, University of Warwick, Professor Bengt Nordén, Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and Dr Timothy Dafforn, University of Birmingham, it demonstrates that this is an approach that may be used by students and scientists from graduate level onwards.

Vibrationally Mediated Photodissociation

Vibrationally Mediated Photodissociation (VMP) deals with the influence of vibrational excitation of the ground electronic state of a molecule on its dissociation following excitation of this state to a higher electronic state. The author, Salman (Zamik) Rosenwaks from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, presents the methodology via state-of-the-art examples. The level of presentation is appropriate for senior undergraduate and graduate students of chemistry and physics. It is intended to serve as an introduction to VMP for beginners and as a literature guide to those acquainted with the subject but not necessarily working on VMP.
