Publishing with Energy Advances as an Early Career Researcher

Led by Volker Presser (Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Germany), Energy Advances is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes research across a broad scope of topics, and welcomes work that contributes to developments throughout energy science and related fields.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Batteries, supercapacitors, hybrid devices and other energy storage technologies
  • Bioenergy, biofuels and the biorefinery
  • Carbon capture, storage or utilisation
  • Catalysis and chemical engineering for energy applications
  • Fuel cells
  • Hydrogen production and storage.
  • Modelling, machine learning and characterisation for energy materials & systems
  • Solar energy conversion and photovoltaics

Visibility

To ensure your research benefits from maximum exposure, the journal is gold open access. There are no submission or article processing charges for Energy Advances until mid-2024 so the journal is currently completely free to publish in. For more information, please see the Energy Advances website.

Publishing with Energy Advances can offer enhanced visibility for your research. Including research infographics, cover art opportunities, Twitter and Facebook promotion.

Rigorous Peer Review Process

Our publishing staff, all scientists, will guide you through the peer review and publication process. The peer review process for Energy Advances is overseen by our Associate Editors, who are all active researchers in their field.

Publishing with Energy Advances combines speed with a rigorous peer review process – the average time to first decision for peer-reviewed manuscripts is 25 days. Our accepted manuscript option allows your article to be online within 24 hours of acceptance.

We are open for submissions and the manuscript submission platform is available here. The latest issue of Energy Advances is available to read here and features papers from across the full spectrum of energy science, including energy storage solutions, methanol oxidation and carbon dioxide capture.

Researcher Development Grants

In addition, our Researcher Development Grants are open to early career scientists and PhD students wishing to undertake an activity that supports their research career. The activities applied for can be virtual or in-person. Examples include, but are not limited to, presenting work at conferences, developing new skills by attending training courses or developing networks by organising a scientific meeting.
