Mercouri G. Kanatzidis. Thirty years of contributions to materials and inorganic chemistry

Mercouri G. Kanatzidis of Northwestern University celebrates the 30-year anniversary of his independent career as well as his 60th birthday this year. As a tribute to Kanatzidis’ renowned career, Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers and guest editors Qichun Zhang (Nanyang Technological University), Jennifer A. Aitken (Duquesne University) and Gerasimos Armatas (University of Crete) are delighted to publish a special web collection to marks these exciting occasions.

In this themed collection, a selection of articles that have been authored by researchers who have been closely associated with Kanatzidis – as students, post-doctoral researchers and colleagues – are featured, covering a diverse spectrum of topics within the fields of materials science and inorganic chemistry.

Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers is very pleased to invite Dr. Rong Chen from Department of Chemical Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China to guest edit this themed collection. Both research and review articles are welcome. If you are interested in contributing to the themed collection, please be aware the following instructions that apply to this issue:

  • Each manuscript should at least include one Chinese research institute and one European institution in affiliation information.
  • Invited authors should ideally submit a brief description of the international collaborative researching project or of the cooperation history between Chinese and European laboratories.

We are pleased to announce the inaugural Emerging Investigators themed collection of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers.

Deadlines for submissions: 31 October 2015

This special collection is dedicated to researchers who are in the early stages of their independent academic career.

A broad range of subjects will be covered — studies falling into the scope of the journal are all welcome, especially interdisciplinary researches between inorganic chemistry and relevant areas, such as nano science, materials, energy, biochemistry, etc.

Research Articles and Reviews are considered for publication —. If you are interested in contributing a Review, please contact the Editorial Office for further information.

This Emerging Investigators collection will be a web-based thematic issue — Articles will be published in the most recent regular issue to enable timely distribution of the work; in the meanwhile, papers are being assembled as a web theme on the journal homepage to highlight their contribution to the special topic.

We hope this themed collection will feature many up-and-coming, early-career scientists whose work has the potential to influence future directions in science or result in new and exciting developments.
