Happy Lunar New Year! 新年快乐

On behalf of the entire Editorial team of Energy Advances, we wish the Chinese research community a very happy and prosperous Year of the Tiger – we look forward to seeing the output of your scientific endeavours and your future contributions to our new journal as authors and readers.

Do reach out to our Editorial Team at energyadvances-rsc@rsc.org to discuss any part of the submission process. (more…)

We’re excited to let you know about the two recent appointments we have made to the Energy Advances Editorial Board. Please join us in welcoming B. Layla Mehdi (University of Liverpool, UK) and Michael Naguib (Tulane University, USA) to the team.

Layla is an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering, Associate Director of the Albert Crewe Centre for Electron Microscopy and Team Lead for Energy Storage in the RUEDI facility at University of Liverpool, UK. Her primary research focus is lithium-ion batteries and energy storage, and on developing advanced new microscopy methods to generate an in-depth understanding of reaction kinetics at solid–liquid  and solid–gas interfaces in batteries and electrocatalysts, as well as pharmaceuticals.

Michael is a Ken and Ruth Arnold Early Career Professor in Science and Engineering and an assistant professor in the Physics and Engineering Physics department at Tulane University, USA. His group’s research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of novel nanomaterials for electrochemical energy storage and conversion, including batteries, supercapacitors, and hydrogen evolution.

Layla and Michael will be handling submissions for our first issues in their Associate Editor roles. Future Editorial Board appointments will be revealed soon – sign-up to receive the latest updates. All article processing charges are waived until mid-2024, making our gold open access journal free to publish in – so your work benefits from maximum visibility.

And on that note, over to you… global energy sustainability concerns can only be tackled by cross-community collaboration. Your ideas could be part of the solution – so don’t hesitate to partner with us for your next publication.

Join us for our exciting batteries webinar

As we approach the COP26 conference, climate action is increasingly in the spotlight. We are hosting a series of online events on chemical science’s key role in tackling sustainability, exploring challenges & opportunities across our global chemical science community.

We invite you to join our upcoming event on Battery science and technology: going digital and going green. The challenges for next-generation batteries have never been more significant: factors such as better performance, lower cost, use of less limited resources, recycling, and production with a lower environmental footprint, are all crucial. This panel will discuss the perspectives, challenges, and opportunities for next-generation battery research and the ramifications for battery production. Join our panellists for this exciting event – attendance is free so register now!

Battery science and technology: going digital and going green

When: 4th November at 2pm GMT

Where: Zoom webinar – register for free here

Speakers: Volker Presser, Jennifer Rupp, Matteo Bianchini and Anwar Sattar

Once you have registered the zoom link will be sent by email the morning of the event. If you are interested to attend but cannot make the date, we encourage you to register anyway as a link to the recording will be shared afterwards.

Showcasing the latest in battery research

To illustrate the importance of innovative battery science, we have curated a special collection of papers to celebrate research highlights across all RSC journals. We hope you enjoy reading the papers in this showcase collection – all articles are free to access until the end of 2021: http://rsc.li/batteries.

The RSC is hosting many other online events over the coming days in preparation for COP26. Check out all the other events and view the recordings of previous events at rsc.li/COP26.

We hope you can join us at the webinar and hope that you enjoy reading the papers in the showcase collection. If you think that this webinar would interest someone you know, please share this post.
