CPE/Sustainable Energy & Fuels Symposium

Sustainable Energy & Fuels is delighted to host a joint symposium with the Centre for Plastic Electronics at Imperial College London. Organised by Editor-in-Chief James Durrant, it features talks from three of our Associate Editors on new materials for solar energy conversion.

“Microwave Conductivity Studies of Mobile Carriers in Conjugated Polymers and Solar Perovskites”

Vincent Artero (CEA Grenoble, France)
“Molecular-based H2-evolving photocathodes”

Ryu Abe (Kyoto University, Japan)
“Visible Light Responsive Photocatalysts toward Solar Hydrogen Production”

The symposium will be held at 2–5 pm on Thursday 30th March at the Pippard Lecture Theatre (Level 5, Sherfield Building), South Kensington Campus, Imperial College London. A refreshments and networking session will follow.

EES and Sustainable Energy & Fuels prize winners at the 5th UK Solar Fuels Network Symposium

On 27th January 2017, the 5th UK Solar Fuels Network Symposium took place at Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne. The event was held by the Solar Fuels Network and hosted by Professor Andrew C. Benniston (Newcastle University) and Dr Pau Farràs Costa (National University of Ireland Galway).

Sustainable Energy & Fuels Editorial Board Chair and Solar Fuels Network Co-ordinator, Professor James Durrant (Imperial College London) gave the welcome and opening remarks, and the invited speakers included: Michael Graetzel (EPFL), Mark Symes (University of Glasgow), Sophia Haussener (EPFL), Martijn A. Zwijnenburg (University College London) and Devens Gust (Arizona State University).

Dr Anna Simpson, Executive Editor of Energy & Environmental Science and Sustainable Energy & Fuels, was delighted to present the following prizes:

Sustainable Energy & Fuels Best Poster (£50 prize): Energy & Environmental Science Best Oral Presentation (£100 prize)
Yvonne S.L. Choo (Newcastle University),  Moritz F. Kuehnel (University of Cambridge),
Preparation of Modified Polyethers with Clickable Pyrene Derivatives Clean H2 fuel from solar-driven biomass reforming

5th UK Solar Fuels Symposium and Postgraduate Afternoon

Sustainable Energy and Fuels are pleased to announce the 5th UK Solar Fuel Symposium and Postgraduate Afternoon.

In addition, Professor Michael Grätzel (EPFL, Switzerland) will give a presentation within the frame of the RSC Centenary Prize lecture tour.

The postgraduate symposium will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 26th January. The 5th UK Solar Fuels Symposium will be 9:30 am to 6:00 pm on Friday 27th January. Both events are free for Solar Fuels Network members.
