We are delighted to welcome Professor Seung-Wan Song, Chungnam National University, South Korea, as Associate Editor for EES Batteries.

Learn more about Seung-Wan Song

Seung-Wan Song is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Chungnam National University (CNU) in South Korea. Dr. Song received her PhDs in Chemistry from Seoul National University and in Materials Science and Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology. Prior to joining CNU, she worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a postdoc and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a postdoctoral research staff member in the USA.

Her group’s research focus lies on the design and development of liquid electrolytes and solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) and interface stabilization for various anodes and cathodes in Li-ion batteries, Li metal (liquid, semi-solid-state), Li-sulfur, Mg and Na-ion batteries, and a basic understanding of electrochemical and interfacial processes responsible for the performance, cycle-life and safety of batteries.

She received an Achievement Award from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea in recognition of her distinguished contribution to battery industry growth, and a Distinguished Faculty of Engineering College and Achievement Award from Chungnam National University, and Achievement Award from the Korean Electrochemical Society. She is the inventor of non-flammable organic liquid electrolytes for safe Li-ion batteries.
