Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers poster prizes awarded at the 6th EuChemMS conference on Nitrogen Ligands

The 6th EuCheMS conference on Nitrogen Ligands was successfully held at on 13-17th, Beaune, France

This conference attracted scientists with an interest in the field of metal-nitrogen ligand chemistry from Europe and abroad. Scope of the 2015 meeting has been broadened by including recent advances from the fields of coordination chemistry, metal-organic chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, and materials & catalysis.

Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers was delighted to sponsor two poster prizes and we would like to join in congratulating the winners.

Open for submissions: 2015 Emerging Investigators Themed Collection

We are pleased to announce the inaugural Emerging Investigators themed collection of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers.

Emerging Investigators themed collection

Deadlines for submissions: 31 October 2015

This special collection is dedicated to researchers who are in the early stages of their independent academic career.

A broad range of subjects will be covered — studies falling into the scope of the journal are all welcome, especially interdisciplinary researches between inorganic chemistry and relevant areas, such as nano science, materials, energy, biochemistry, etc.

Research Articles and Reviews are considered for publication —. If you are interested in contributing a Review, please contact the Editorial Office for further information.

This Emerging Investigators collection will be a web-based thematic issue — Articles will be published in the most recent regular issue to enable timely distribution of the work; in the meanwhile, papers are being assembled as a web theme on the journal homepage to highlight their contribution to the special topic.

We hope this themed collection will feature many up-and-coming, early-career scientists whose work has the potential to influence future directions in science or result in new and exciting developments.

the 17th International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry (ICBIC17)

Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers is proud to sponsor the 17th International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry (ICBIC17) together with Dalton Transactions, Chemical Science and Metallomics.

ICBIC17 is to be held from 20th to 24th July in Beijing China. Conference this year is hosted by the Chinese Chemical Society together with National Natural Science Foundation of China and is organized by Beihang University. Under the subject of “Biological Inorganic Chemistry: Interdiscipline and Cooperation”, this conference will cover newly attained research achievements in the realm for the past few years.

Professor Yi Lu, the Editorial Board member of ICF, Professor Christopher Chang and Professor Chi-Ming Che who both serve in the ICF Advisory Board, will give keynote lectures at the conference.

Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers Awards at the International Symposium of Energy Conversion and Storage

ICF warmly congratulates the Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers Award winners,

  • Professor Shou-Hua Feng (Jilin University, China) and Professor Pei-Dong Yang (UC Berkeley, US), winners of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers Award for Distinguished Scientist;
  • Professor Yi Cui (Stanford University, US) and Professor Zhi-Yong Tang (National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China), winners of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers Award for Outstanding Young Scientist;

Congratulations to Professor Yi Xie for being honoured the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award!

“As the International Year of Light celebrates science and knowledge all over the world, the L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO will present, on March 18th, the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards to five outstanding women scientists and 15 grants to promising young researchers. Each of these women is a brilliant example of scientific excellence. They prove everyday that women can greatly contribute to scientific progress in a field still largely dominated by men.”

This year’s 5 Laureates of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards are being honored for their ground-breaking discoveries in the physical sciences. By studying the infinitely large to the infinitely small, they have pushed back the frontiers of knowledge to explain the most fundamental questions of the universe and contribute to solving some of today’s greatest challenges. The 10th International Symposium for Chinese Inorganic Chemists (ISCIC-10) was successfully held in Xiamen University on 19-20 December 2014. Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers Poster Prizes Awarded at the 6th Catalysis and Sensing for our Environment (CASE) network meeting at Xiamen University

The 6th Catalysis and Sensing for our Environment (CASE) network meeting was held at Xiamen University from 7-9th November 2014 and hosted by Yun-Bao Jiang (Dean of the College of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University). http://case2014.wordpress.com/

The Catalysis and Sensing for our Environment (CASE) network was founded by Tony James, Steven Bull and John Fossey at the University of Bath in 2008. These annual research meetings have been held in Bath (UK, 2008) ECUST (Shanghai, 2009), the University of Birmingham (UK, 2011), SIOC (Shanghai, 2012) and the University of Texas at Austin (USA, 2013).

The CASE symposia have proven to be hot beds for collaborative discussion with numerous papers and successful funding applications resulting from the interactions initiated through the networking opportunities provided by these meetings.

Three Poster Prizes of ¥500 and Certificate from Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers were awarded by Daping Zhang the Executive Editor of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers.

Call for paper: Web theme on Molecular Magnetism

We are delighted to announce a new themed collection to be published in 2015 on Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers:


Molecular Magnetism

Deadline: 31 May 2015


Guest Editors: Hitoshi Miyasaka (Tohoku University) and Lapo Bogani (Universität Stuttgart)

This themed collection is dedicated to highlighting recent important progresses on synthesis, theoretical investigations, property studies and potential applications of molecular-based magnets. All types of manuscripts — Research articles, Reviews and Chemistry Frontiers will be considered for publication. Submissions will be subject to normal peer review. Accepted articles will be published and included into recent journal issues without delay to permit the timely dissemination of the work.

How to write research papers for STM journals

How to explain your research and organize the data in an effective and logical way for publication in an STM journal?

Song Gao, Professor of Chemistry at Peking University, is sharing his experiences and handy tips on scholarly writing. Structure of an academic paper, function of each section and principles of science writing are introduced in the recently published Editorial in Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers.

Song Gao got his BS and PhD in chemistry at Peking University (PKU) in 1985 and 1991, and now is Professor of Chemistry at the same University. He was a Humboldt Research Fellow in TH Aachen from 1995 to 1997. He has been Cheung Kong Professor in College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at PKU since 2002, and served as dean of this college in 2006-2010. He is currently the vice chancellor of PKU and deputy director of Beijing National Laboratory for Molecular Sciences. He received the State Natural Science Award (the 2nd Grade) in 2006 because of his contribution in magnetic coordination polymers and molecular nanomagnets. He was elected as a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007 and in the same year he became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Song Gao’s research interests are magnetic ordered coordination polymers, molecular nanomagnets, molecular and crystal engineering, and multifunctional molecular materials. He has published more than 450 papers on world leading academic journals including Nature, JACS and Chemical Science. He is member of the Editorial/Advisory Board for many international journals and now is serving as Editor-in-Chief of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers.
