This research article is from Katherine J Franz’s group at the Duke University, USA. Her group focuses on understanding the coordination chemistry utilized in biological systems to regulate essential yet toxic species like copper and iron using a combination of synthesis, biochemistry and spectroscopy. In this work they have developed a later generation prochelator named BHAPI and show that it has protective effect on cells under oxidative stress.
