RSC Poster Prize Winners at Bunsentagung 2017

The 116th General Assembly of the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry took place between 25-27 May 2017, at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany.

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) Executive Editor Anna Simpson was at the event and presented the winners of the Poster Award with their certificates during the Closing Ceremony on Saturday 27 May 2017. This year’s winners were:

2017 PCCP – Chemical Society of Japan Prizes

PCCP are delighted to announce the winners of the 2017 PCCP Prizes for Outstanding Achievement of Young Scientists in Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics. These were awarded  at a prize ceremony held at the 97th Annual Meeting of the Chemical Society of Japan on the 16th March in Tokyo, Japan.  The winners each received a commemorative book and a PCCP Prize certificate.

University of California Symposium for Chemical Sciences, 21 – 23 March 2016

PCCP were pleased to support the University of California Symposium for Chemical Sciences which took place from 21 – 23 March 2016 at UCLA Lake Arrowhead conference centre.

The conference was envisioned to follow a Gordon GRS-style format comprised of oral and poster presentations by graduate students and postdocs. They customised the program to serve the interests of UC students by including workshops on research presentation, publication and career preparation. The conference broadly encompassed all areas of chemistry, including biological, organic, inorganic, analytical and physical chemistry.

2016 PCCP – Chemical Society of Japan Prizes

Inaugural ECS North West UK Symposium – 10th February 2016

This is the first event of the newly formed ECS North West UK Student Chapter, which was founded with the intention of providing a student organised forum to improve links between researchers in electrochemistry within institutions in the North West of the UK.  

There will be refreshments provided between the two talks, followed by a student poster session, with a poster prize sponsored by PCCP, and wine reception.

Please register here by January 29th. We recommend that attendees to display a poster of their work at the event. Those who wish to do so should select this option when registering. Poster titles should be emailed to the organisers by Wednesday 3rd February.

International Symposium on Relations between Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis -ISHHC17

The 17th International Symposium on Relations between Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis (ISHHC17), was held at Utrecht University between 12th-15th July, 2015. The opening ceremony took place in the Dom church in the city centre, with plenary lectures given by Professor Robert Schlögl (Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Germany) and Professor Jan van Hest (Radboud University, the Netherlands).

Catalysis Science & Technology and PCCP were proud to sponsor two poster prizes during the event. These were awarded to Amanda E. Anderson (Christopher J. Baddeley and Paul A. Wright) of EaStCHEM School of Chemistry, University of St. Andrews (UK) for her poster, ‘Immobilization of Nanoparticles in Metal Organic Frameworks for Tandem Catalysis’; and to Pim Huat Phua (Boon Ying Tay, Cun Wang, Ludger Paul Stubbs) of Institute of Chemical and Engineering Science (A*STAR) (Singapore), for his poster, ‘Hydrogenation of Levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone: Homogeneous vs Heterogeneous Catalysis’.

PCCP Tulip2015 Awards

We are delighted to announce the winners of the PCCP Tulip2015 awards that were given at the Tulip2015 Summer School on Modern Developments in Spectroscopy in Noordwijk in the Netherlands. This year, there were two winners of the prize, best presentation went to Sana Habka of CEA Saclay, France for her poster on “Gas Phase Spectroscopy of Zwitterionic Complexes” and best layout went to Ana Krin of Max-Planck-Institut für Struktur und Dynamik der Materie, Hamburg, Germany  for her poster on “Enantiomer Identification in Mixtures Using Broadband Microwave Spectroscopy”. The winners each received a certificate and a cash prize.
