Advances in GC IV, Cheshire

Advances in GC IV
30th October 2013 (First Announcement)
LGC Ltd, The Heath Business Park, Runcorn, Cheshire

Joint meeting organised by The Chromatographic Society and the North West Region of the Analytical Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

After the success of the 2011 meeting we are pleased to announce another follow up meeting in the series.
GC is still technique of choice for analysing both volatile and semi volatile compounds, but as we move to more difficult matrices, more is being asked of the technique in terms of separation and limits of detection. The meeting sets out to both give an overview of current GC technologies and methodologies, information on newer detection/separation solutions and case studies from all the main user areas.

In parallel to the full meeting program will be an Instrument exhibition with representatives from all the major GC Instrument and Consumables Suppliers.

Advances in Clinical Analysis 2012 Meeting

The Chromatographic Society and the Separation Science Group of the Analytical Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry are pleased to announce their next meeting: Advances in Clinical Analysis 2012

30th October 2012
Robens Suite,
29th Floor,
Guy’s Hospital Tower,
St Thomas’ Street, London, SE1 9RT, UK

Clinical analysis is a wide ranging and complex subject area, but as we move to more complex and difficult analyses, much is now being asked of the techniques in terms of the specificity, sensitivity, simplicity and productivity.

The meeting sets out to look at separation and complementary/alternative techniques along with case studies from the hospital and academic areas. The program has been designed to give attendee’s an update for both routine and problem solving in clinical analysis.

For more information please contact Adrian Clarke.

Symposium on Advances in Raman Spectroscopy in Pharmaceutical Analysis – Registration now open!

Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies FACSS in conjunction with JPAG, RSC MSG & the IRDG present a Joint Symposium
on “Advances in Raman Spectroscopy in Pharmaceutical Analysis” on 17 May 2012: London, UK.

Registration is now open!

Jointly organised with: Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS), the Joint Pharmaceutical Analysis Group (JPAG), the Royal Society of Chemistry Molecular Spectroscopy Group (MSG) and the Infrared & Raman Discussion Group (IRDG).

Raman spectroscopy has found favor in pharmaceutical analysis because it is nondestructive, requires minimal sample preparation, and gives clear spectra for identification.  This 1-day symposium demonstrates a breadth of successful Raman applications spanning the R&D field, API development, scale-up, and manufacturing, as well as drug product formulation development, characterization, and product assay.  Poster presentations, a student prize, and an exhibition of Raman instruments add to the value of the symposium.

Additional information about this symposium is available here.

This meeting represents one of the first “FACSS present” events.  FACSS participation in this meeting is in support of several of the member organizations of FACSS and the charter of FACSS.

Programme topics include:
• The use of Raman in characterising amorphous and crystalline forms of APIs
• Moving PAT from laboratory to production and getting FDA approval
• Raman spectral imaging to characterise individual particles
• Removing the effects of packaging to identify raw materials with Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopy [SORS]
• Reverse engineering studies with Raman imaging to defend patents
• Why transmission Raman spectroscopy is the future: case studies
• Comparison of NIR, Raman backscattering and transmission spectroscopy for the analysis of polymorphs
• Laboratory vs hand-held instruments: what you gain and what you lose
• Vendors’ showcase exhibition

Separation Science Europe 2011

Separation Science 2011, 10-11 October, The Royal Institution, London

Separation Science Europe 2011 takes place Monday 10 – Tuesday 11 October at The Royal Institution, London, UK.

The RSC is pleased to be the official supporting organisation of the meeting, which is aimed at scientists, engineers and technical experts from the diverse analytical instrumentation industries.  The two-day programme will look at issues of vital importance to application chromatographers and analytical chemists working in pharmaceutical, food analysis, environmental, petrochemical and clinical laboratories.

With a varied line-up of speakers from academia and industry it’s sure to be an interesting and insightful couple of days!

I will be attending on Monday 10 October, so please do stop by the RSC stand and say hello.  Of course, I’ll be happy to answer any queries about the analytical journals or RSC Publishing in general.  I look forward to seeing you in London.
